Is Ethiopia a good place to outsource software development?

For many European, Gulf and African buyers, yes. Ethiopia works in UTC+3, so the working day overlaps almost fully with Europe and the Gulf. English is the language of instruction in Ethiopian universities and the working language of our teams. Engineering costs sit well below Western Europe and the Gulf. Ethiopia is a newer outsourcing destination than Kenya or Egypt, so choose a partner with a track record: 360Ground has delivered 100+ projects since 2010 for banks, ministries and international organisations.
East Africa Time, UTC+3, with no daylight saving. That is one to two hours ahead of Central Europe, two to three hours ahead of the UK, the same time as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and one hour behind the UAE. US East Coast mornings overlap with the Ethiopian afternoon, and shifted hours can be agreed. Ethiopia also uses its own calendar and clock locally, but our teams plan, meet and report in international time and the Gregorian calendar.
You contract directly with Eldix IT Technology PLC, the registered Ethiopian company trading as 360Ground, usually through a master services agreement and a statement of work per team or project. You do not need a local entity. Dedicated teams are invoiced monthly and projects by milestone, in an agreed foreign currency, paid by international bank transfer to our Ethiopian bank account. Governing law, notice periods and acceptance terms are set out in the contract, and we can review your own template.
You do. Our contracts assign the intellectual property in the work you pay for to you, and code lives in your repositories and accounts from the first sprint, so you always hold the latest version. Engineers sign confidentiality undertakings, and we sign your NDA before any detailed briefing. Personal data handled in Ethiopia is processed under the Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024, and we can also sign a data processing agreement that reflects your own obligations.
After a discovery call we send a team plan with roles, profiles and monthly cost. You interview the proposed engineers, and a team typically starts within a few weeks of signing, depending on the skills needed. Because our 75+ specialists are employees, not freelancers, we can replace an engineer who leaves or is not the right fit, with an overlap period for handover so your delivery keeps moving.
