Merchant & Agent Banking POS Software

Bank POS Software for Merchants, Agents and Branches

360Ground builds white-label bank POS software for Ethiopian banks, microfinance institutions and payment operators: an mPOS app for merchants, agent banking apps, a web-based branch and teller POS, and one back office that reconciles every transaction. We engineered Dashen Bank’s Amole POS ecosystem, which runs in all 400+ Dashen Bank branches, serves 3.5+ million registered customers and merchants and has processed over 100 billion ETB. Merchants and agents handle cash-in and cash-out, bills, airtime, tickets, P2P transfers and wallet payments on Android phones or POS terminals, in five local languages, with offline SMS where there is no internet. Your bank keeps the brand and the merchants.

Questions? Answers.

1. What is mPOS payment?

mPOS (mobile point of sale) payment means taking payments on a smartphone or handheld Android terminal instead of a fixed till. The merchant enters the amount, the customer pays by card, NFC tap, wallet or cash, and the app prints or sends a receipt. For banks, mPOS is a low-cost way to bring small merchants into digital payments without expensive countertop hardware. The Amole mPOS we built for Dashen Bank turns any smartphone into a secure payment terminal.
A bank or licensed payment operator appoints agents, such as shops, pharmacies or fuel stations, to offer basic services on its behalf. Customers visit an agent to deposit or withdraw cash, pay bills, buy airtime or send money, and the agent completes the transaction on an app or POS terminal connected to the bank’s systems. The bank sets limits, monitors agent float and remains responsible for the service. Our agent banking app gives agents these tools and gives the bank central control.
The National Bank of Ethiopia’s Use of Agents Directive No. FIS/02/2020 defines which activities agents may carry out, how banks and payment operators appoint and oversee them, and minimum standards for customer protection and risk management. In software, that means agent registration and approval, transaction and balance limits, real-time records, a receipt for every transaction and reports for supervision. We build these controls into the agent app and back office, and your compliance team confirms the final settings.
Yes. For Amole we designed and built the mPOS for mobile phones and POS terminals, plus a web POS for branch tellers, all running on one backend through an API, with thermal printer, NFC reader and custom receipt printer integration. If you also need devices, 360Ground supplies Android POS terminals through authorised channels with genuine manufacturer warranty, preloaded with your bank’s app and delivered on the same contract as the software.
Yes. Connectivity is weak in many parts of Ethiopia, so our mPOS software is built to keep working. The Amole mPOS is accessible in rural areas without the internet, using offline SMS capabilities to carry transactions. Every transaction still lands in the central backend, which reconciles it, so the bank sees one consistent record across online and offline channels. Before rollout we agree with your risk team which services may run offline and which limits apply.
The merchant mPOS, agent app and branch POS all post into one central backend that acts as the single source of truth. It reconciles each transaction against your core banking system and, for interbank and card transactions, against the settlement data from EthSwitch that your bank receives. Exceptions are flagged for review, and finance teams get daily settlement and commission reports. Amole’s fully centralised reconciliation has handled over 100 billion ETB of transactions.
SoftPOS lets a merchant accept contactless card and wallet payments by tapping them on an NFC-enabled Android phone, with no separate terminal. We build SoftPOS and NFC tap-to-pay into your mPOS app and connect it to your acquiring platform, building on our NFC reader integration work for Amole. Card-scheme and security approvals for SoftPOS sit with the acquiring bank, so we plan the rollout with your card team and its approval timeline from the start.
Building in-house gives full control but takes longer and carries more delivery risk. A generic white-label platform is faster but can be hard to fit to your products and core system. 360Ground offers a middle path: POS, merchant and agent banking software we own and have proven at national scale with Amole, branded and configured for your bank. Because our own engineers wrote the core, we extend the system to fit your processes. You keep the brand, the merchants and the data.
