1. What is IoT and how is it used in Ethiopia?

It depends on the site. Mobile M2M SIMs over GSM or 4G suit vehicles and scattered sites with good coverage. LoRaWAN suits many low-power sensors across a factory, farm or campus, sending data to one gateway. NB-IoT needs network support where the devices are installed. Sites with a reliable local network can use Wi-Fi or Ethernet. We check coverage, power and distances during the site survey and recommend the option with the lowest running cost.

3. Can IoT sensors send SMS alerts to our phones?

Yes. Each sensor can have rules, such as a cold-room temperature above a set limit, a generator running low on fuel or a server-room door left open, and the platform sends an alert by SMS, email or app notification to the right people. Alerts can escalate to a manager if nobody responds. 360Ground also runs SMS gateway services, including the National SMS Gateway used across government, so alert delivery is part of the same solution.

4. Can IoT data flow into Odoo, ERPNext or Dynamics 365?

Yes. We connect devices to Odoo through the Odoo IoT Box, to ERPNext through its IoT framework, and to Microsoft Dynamics 365 through Azure IoT Hub. Weighbridge readings can post straight to a delivery or production order, biometric scans to attendance and payroll, and scanners and scales to stock and sales. As an Odoo official implementation partner and a Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation partner, 360Ground handles both the devices and the ERP setup.

5. How much does a cold-room temperature monitoring system cost?

The cost depends on the number of cold rooms, fridges or trucks, the sensors per room, the connectivity option, whether you need a local display or alarm, and the platform subscription or on-premises hosting. A single pharmacy fridge costs far less than a multi-room warehouse with backup power. After a short site survey, 360Ground sends an itemised quote in birr covering devices, installation, platform and maintenance, so you can compare it with the value of the stock you protect.

6. Can you monitor diesel generators at remote sites?

Yes. A controller or sensor kit on each generator reports fuel level, running hours, battery voltage, mains or generator status and faults over a mobile connection. You see every site on one dashboard and receive alerts for low fuel, sudden fuel drops, failed starts or overdue servicing. This helps banks, telecom and health sites plan refuelling, spot fuel theft and keep power on. Readings can also feed maintenance records in your ERP.

7. Who supplies, installs and maintains the IoT hardware?

We do, on the same contract as the software. 360Ground carries out the site survey, specification and bill of materials, then delivers, installs, cables and commissions the sensors and gateways. Hardware is sourced through authorised channels with genuine manufacturer warranty, and we handle warranty registration and vendor escalation. After go-live we provide SLA maintenance and spares, so you have one team accountable for devices, connectivity setup, platform and support.

8. Where is IoT data hosted and how is it kept secure?

You choose. Data can be hosted on-premises on servers in your own facility, in a local data centre, or in a cloud such as Microsoft Azure. We design private network access for devices, encrypt data in transit and limit who can view or change each dashboard. Biometric and location data count as personal data, so we set retention and access rules in line with the Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024. 360Ground is INSA accredited for government technology delivery.
