Web Application Development in Ethiopia

Full-stack React, Node.js and Python platforms engineered for national scale and low-bandwidth users, by one Addis Ababa team.

A Full-Stack Web Development Company in Addis Ababa

360Ground is an Addis Ababa full-stack development company. We build secure web applications with React, Node.js/Express, Python and PostgreSQL, hosted on the cloud or on-premise. Our teams built the Ethiopian Securities Exchange’s Crowd Investment Platform, designed for 10,000+ users and 500 transactions per second even in low-bandwidth areas; MInT’s National Business Portal in five languages across four cities; and a GIS web system covering 400,000+ land parcels for the Ministry of Agriculture. You hire one accountable team covering UX, front end, back end, QA, DevOps and support, instead of coordinating individual freelancers.

Questions? Answers.

How much does a web application cost in Ethiopia?

The cost depends on scope, so we price after a short discovery phase rather than guessing. The main drivers are the number of user types and workflows, integrations with payment, national or ERP systems, languages, expected traffic, security and hosting requirements, data migration, and the level of support after launch. Local clients are quoted in birr (ETB), usually as a fixed price paid by milestone. Request an estimate and we will send a costed, phase-by-phase proposal.
A website mainly publishes information: pages, news and contact forms that visitors read. A web application lets users do things: log in, apply, pay, upload documents, approve requests or see personal dashboards, with business logic and a database behind it. If users need accounts, workflows or transactions, you need a web application. Many organisations have both, such as a public website linked to a web portal where customers or citizens complete services online.
Our core stack is React for the front end, Node.js/Express or Python for the back end, PostgreSQL (with PostGIS for maps) for data, and AWS or on-premise servers for hosting, with Flutter or React Native for mobile companions. We choose per project: for example, INR-MIS uses PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GeoServer and OpenLayers for national-scale mapping. We favour widely used, open technologies so your own team, or another vendor, can maintain the code later.
WordPress suits content-led portals where staff mainly publish news, documents and announcements and need a familiar editor. Django, or another custom back end, suits portals that process transactions: online applications, payments, approvals, role-based back offices and integration with national systems. Security needs, traffic, languages and who will maintain the site also matter. Our blog post ‘WordPress vs Django: Which CMS Is Best for Government Web Portals’ sets out the trade-offs in more detail.
Yes. Instead of hiring individual freelancers, you can engage a dedicated 360Ground team in Addis Ababa: a project lead with UX, front-end, back-end, QA and DevOps engineers sized to your roadmap. The team works in your sprints and tools, reports on progress, and is backed by 75+ specialists at 360Ground, so skills can be added when you need them. This suits banks, startups and foreign firms that need a stable, accountable team rather than one developer.
You choose. We can host on AWS or another cloud platform where the law allows, in an Ethiopian data centre, or on your own servers, planned around the Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024. Under a support agreement we monitor the application, apply security updates, fix bugs and add features. You own the source code and intellectual property of the system you pay for, as set out in the contract, and we hand over code, documentation and credentials.
