The Data Is Public. Using It Has Been Hard.
Ethiopian institutions already publish a lot. Banks release audited annual reports. Insurers publish financial statements. State-owned enterprises report through Ethiopian Investment Holdings. The Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Ethiopia publish budgets, bulletins and financial stability reports.
Actually using that information is a different matter. It is spread across dozens of websites, locked inside scanned PDFs, labelled in the Ethiopian calendar, and formatted differently by every institution. Answering a simple question such as “Which banks grew their profit fastest last year?” can take days of downloading, reading and retyping into spreadsheets.
That gap matters more every year. With the Ethiopian Securities Exchange now live and regulators pushing for better data-driven supervision, investors, journalists and decision-makers need financial information they can find, compare and trust quickly.
Introducing 360 Data
360 Data, the Ethiopian Public Disclosure Platform, is a free platform designed, built and maintained by the 360Ground team. It collects public disclosures from Ethiopia’s major institutions, structures them, and presents them as interactive, comparable and downloadable data.
It follows one rule: if a figure is not in a public document, it does not appear. The platform never estimates, interpolates or extrapolates. Every number carries a citation to its source document, page numbers and the date it was last verified, and missing values are shown as “Not disclosed” instead of being filled in.
What You Can Do on 360 Data
The platform is organised around the questions people actually ask about Ethiopian institutions:
| Section | What It Gives You |
|---|---|
| Companies | A profile for each institution with multi-year income statements, balance sheets, key ratios, a health indicator and its latest disclosures. |
| Sectors | Dashboards and league tables for banking, insurance, telecom, public enterprises, microfinance and leasing. |
| Compare | Side-by-side revenue, net profit, assets, ratios and trends across fiscal years, in ETB or USD. |
| Prices | Published savings rates, everyday fees, loan costs and money-from-abroad fees of 61 banks, microfinance institutions and mobile wallets, calculated in birr for your amount. |
| Disclosures | Every tracked annual report, financial statement, AGM notice and regulatory filing, filterable by company, document type and year. |
| Budget | Federal budget totals, allocations and public debt for 2010EC–2019EC. The 2019EC budget, for example, totals ETB 2.34 trillion. |
| Rankings | The largest institutions by audited assets, revenue and profit, plus the Ministry of Revenue’s register of 498 recognised taxpayers. |
| Data Export | The full structured dataset as CSV or JSON, free to reuse in your own analysis. |
| Explainers | Plain-language guides to capital adequacy, NPLs, ROA and ROE, liquidity, the Ethiopian fiscal year, the ESX and more. |
Key Features of 360 Data
Beyond the sections above, the platform is built to help people find answers quickly, compare fairly, and read the numbers the way they prefer.

Built for Trust
Make It Yours
One Bank, Seven Years, Every Number Cited
Here is what the platform shows for Awash Bank, Ethiopia’s first privately owned commercial bank. In 2017EC (2024/25), its net profit more than doubled to ETB 18.71 billion, up 115.6%, on total revenue of ETB 52.28 billion and total assets of ETB 442.6 billion.
On the live Awash Bank profile, each of these values links back to the annual report it came from. The same view is available for every institution on the platform, including the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Ethio Telecom, Ethiopian Airlines, Dashen Bank and Bank of Abyssinia.
Built for Trust: Methodology You Can Check
Financial data is only useful if people can rely on it. 360 Data publishes its whole methodology:
- Confidence levels: “High” confidence figures come from audited financial statements, and “medium” from summary or prospectus tables derived from them. Anything weaker is flagged “unverified” wherever it appears.
- Rule-based health indicator: The strong / stable / watch signal is computed from published thresholds, not judged by AI. For banks, the NBE’s 8% capital adequacy floor, a 15% “strong cushion” and a 10% NPL stress line are all written into a versioned rule set that applies equally to every institution.
- Visible gaps: A coverage report lists exactly which company-years are missing because no public source exists, so readers can see the gaps instead of having them hidden.
- No runtime AI: AI agents help extract data at build time, but the deployed site is fully static. What you see is what was validated.
From Data to Insight: “Seventeen Dollars”
Structured data also makes new analysis possible. The platform’s first long-form Insight combines Ethiopian Deposit Insurance Fund and NBE disclosures with bank-by-bank financial statements. It finds that of 176 million deposit accounts in Ethiopia, 97.1% sit below the Br 100,000 insurance ceiling, but together they hold only 13.65% of the money in the system.
The mean balance in an insured account is Br 2,837, about US$17. The remaining 2.9% of accounts hold 86.35% of all deposits.
This kind of analysis is only practical when the underlying figures are already structured, cross-checked and cited, and that is what the platform provides.
Who 360 Data Is For
“Ethiopia’s institutions already publish their numbers. 360 Data makes those numbers usable, with every figure traceable back to its source.”
Explore the Platform
360 Data is free and open to everyone at data.360ground.com. Search any institution, compare peers, browse the latest disclosures, or download the full dataset.
It is also an example of what 360Ground builds: data analytics, document intelligence and public-sector transparency platforms. If your organisation needs its own data turned into something people can use, talk to our team.
360 Data re-presents already-public disclosures. Always verify figures against the original source document. Nothing on the platform is investment advice.
