1. What is the difference between a web portal and a website?
A website mainly publishes information to visitors. A web portal is a gateway that also connects people to services and systems: it links to internet and mobile banking, takes applications or complaints, serves different content to different audiences, and is managed by several editors with roles and approvals. Most banks and institutions need a portal, because their site must integrate with core systems and publish large volumes of reports, news and notices in more than one language.
2. Which CMS is best for a bank website?
It depends on your integrations, security policy and editorial team. WordPress suits content-heavy portals with many editors and a fast publishing cycle. Django CMS suits portals that need custom logic, tight integration with banking systems and stricter control over code. Either can be hardened and hosted on a dedicated server. 3. Can the portal integrate with our core banking system?
Yes. We integrated Zemen Bank’s corporate web portal with its core banking system, and Awash Bank’s website with its internet and mobile banking, branch locator, career portal and chatbot. Integration is designed with your IT and security teams so the public portal only exposes the data and services you approve. We document every interface and include it in testing, handover and ongoing support.
4. Where is the portal hosted?
You choose. We can supply and configure a dedicated server in your own data centre, as we did for Zemen Bank, or host the portal on a cloud or local hosting environment that meets your security and data-residency requirements. Server hardware is sourced through authorised channels with genuine manufacturer warranty. Hosting, backups, updates and monitoring can be covered under the same support agreement as the software.
5. Do you train our content team?
Yes. Training is part of every portal delivery. Your editors learn to create pages, publish news, reports and vacancies, manage media and translations, and follow the approval workflow. Administrators learn user and role management. We provide user guides and continue with support and maintenance after launch, as we did for Zemen Bank, so your team can run the portal day to day without calling a developer.
6. Can the portal support Amharic and other languages?
Yes. Portals are designed as multilingual from the start, with each language managed in the CMS and switched from every page. Ethiopian bank portals typically run in Amharic and English, and we built the African Union CISSA web portal in English, French and Portuguese. Menus, forms, search and documents are handled per language, and fonts are chosen so Ge’ez script displays clearly on phones and desktops.
7. Can you respond to our RFP for a web portal?
Yes.
