History

The Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) was initially established in December 1975 as a commission under Proclamation No. 62/1975. In 1994, it was restructured as the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) following the issuance of Proclamation No. 91/94. In 2018, the ministry was renamed to its current title to reflect its expanded role in fostering innovation and technology-driven development in Ethiopia. In 2019, the Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology were united and re-organized to form the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, aiming to build a country conducive for job and wealth creation through technology and innovation.
