History

1935: Founded by government decree following the second Italian invasion of Ethiopia. 1935: Officially recognized as the 48th member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. 1947: Adopted its first National Charter; revised several times, with the latest approval in January 2018. 2007: Initiated a 12-storey building project to enhance operational capacity. 2016: Played a pivotal role in responding to the Ethiopian floods by distributing emergency shelter and household kits to affected regions. 2025: Celebrated its 90th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian service.
